HomeBodies Conference

9 - 10 November 2007
Birkbeck, University of London
Senate House, Malet St
London WC1E 7HU

The goal of the “HomeBodies” project is to investigate the contemporary notion of not-feeling-at-home in relation to the body and the house. The word ‘homebody’ meaning a person who prefers pleasures and activities that center around the home; stay-at-home, is the starting point for the project. However, I am interested in the reversal of its common usage and creating multiple positions of inhabiting. The complex feeling of not-at-home or not feeling safe begins with the experience of home and is located and lived with and within a body.
