Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttír work explores the intersection of magical realism and natural wonder through transformation, disguise, and ritual. These themes play a central role in her performance-based artwork while the use of multi-channel video, virtual, augmented, and live streaming technology enables an interactive discourse. She often uses transformation, disguise, and references to ritual and ceremony as a way of manifesting the splintering time and memory. Ásdís received her BFA with honors from the School of Visual Arts New York in 2000, She received her MA in New Genres from UCLA in 2004. She has shown at the Pompidou, Momentum, Berlinale and at the núna now festival in Winnipeg. Ásdís Sif currently lives and works in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Studio Labs is a series of exhibitions at Ásdís Sif's studio on Austurstræti 5.
